Its name originates from a miniature street that 's next to the hotel, 'Jutas backe' [Jutas hill]. Which starts at Johannesgatan by S:t Johanneskyrkan and goes to Birger Jarlsgatan. The street in turn got its name the year 1855 after Georg Carl von Döbeln who won the 'Battle of Jutas' in the Finnish War in 1808. 'Döbeln vid Jutas' is also the title of one of the most famous poems in the Runeberg collection 'Fänriks Ståls sägner'.
